Shorthanded Lions Lose Tough Match at Brookwood Stadium

The Varsity Lady Lions lost a tough match at Brookwood Stadium on Saturday afternoon.  It was a beautiful afternoon for soccer, but unfortunately the Broncos came out on top of this hard fought match 2-0.

Missing teammates to another commitment, the Lady Lions were short 6 varsity players as the contest began.  Despite the missing teammates, the Lions were able to hold the game close.

After back and forth play that was indicative of the style of play of both teams, Bronco Washida Blackmon - a Gwinnett County Pre-Season Super Six selection - found the back of the net at the 23 minute mark of the first half.

At the 8 minute mark of the second half, Blackmon was at it again and upped the score to 2-0 on a shot from the top of the box.  Both Alanna Dineen and Phoebe Palmer had strong scoring opportunities, only to be denied by the Bronco keeper.

Lions keeper McCall Gardner was instrumental in keeping this one close, as the Bronco's outshot the Lions 12 to 5 on the day.

Next Up, the Lions travel to Grayson on Friday evening for a contest with the Rams.  Game time is 5:55, be there!
