Lady Lions Stand Alone At the Top of Region 7 Standings

Following a fantastic display of ball control and posession Friday night against Meadowcreek High School, the Varsity Girls find themselves alone and at the top of the Region 7 standings this week.  The Lions were exercising full control in the match, and ultimately downed the Mustangs 5-0.

"We played a good game," said Lion coach Bill Holleman, "the girls were poised and did not get frustrated when we did not score early.  They kept their composure and ultimately found the keys to unlock the Meadowcreek net."

Olivia Hall (2), Baillie Burmaster, Alanna Dineen, and Wendy Palmer all scored in the contest.  "I was encouraged to see shots coming from a number of our players tonight," stated Holleman, "if we can continue to see threats coming from up-top and the middle of the field, we will continue to give teams problems."

The Mustangs never seriously threatened in this game, as the Lion defense was quick and physical when it needed to be.  Katey Lippitt, Melissa Lay, and Baillie Burmaster continue to play together extremely well.  Lexie Luther once again filled in as goal keeper for the injured McCall Gardner, who finds out on Tuesday the extent of her injury.  In the 120 minutes of soccer since Gardner went down, the Lion's have honored the hard work she did all season by not giving up a goal.

Next up, the Lion's take on the Mill Creek Hawks on Tuesday night at Mill Creek.  Game time is 5:55PM, Be There!!
