 VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS

The Peachtree Ridge Lions traveled to Wildcat Stadium on the Duluth High School campus and made the most of their chances, coming away with the 5-1 victory.  The win takes their record to 13-2 overall, and 4-2 in the region.

This one started off with a bang as Forward Jeremy Rector was pulled down in the box at the 22 second mark.  The referee awarded a penalty kick which Rector converted, and just like that the Lion's had the lead 1-0 and never looked back.

"Duluth played very physical tonight," stated Lion's Coach Ryan Sutton, "I think Grayson Guldenschuh was brought down at least 6-7 times.  We knew it was going to be a battle, so we are glad to get out without an injuries."

The Lion's second goal has to be a candidate for goal of the year.  After a J.T. Taplin throw-in was deflected to the top of the box, senior Chris Cook ripped an upper 90 shot that the Duluth keeper might have gotten a glmpse of.   It was a thing of beauty!  You can watch it and the games other highlights on the Peachtree Ridge Soccer Channel.

After the Wildcats had scored to make the score 2-1, Cook led another surge on the Wildcat net.  With Rector and Junior Michael Valenzuela making strong runs with him, Cook dished the ball to Rector who found a wide open Valenzuela at the top of the box to his left.  Valenzuela's deadly accurate shot caught the corner of the net passed the outstretched arms of the Wildcat goalie for a 3-1 Lion lead.

The Lion's Derek Bryant scored his first goal of the campaign off a short corner kick.  Branden Green took the corner and dropped a short pass to junior Juan Hererra.  Hererra calmly placed a beautiful ball into the box that Bryant headed past the keeper for a 4-1 margin.

The Lion's were not done.  Late in the match, Guldenschuh made a stellar defensive play to thwart a Wildcat rush, and then made a beautiful outlet pass to Rector, who along with Cook, were 2-2 with Wildcat defense.  Rector found Cook at the top of the box, and Cook's one time left-footed shot was true, giving the Lions a 5-1 cushion, spelling doom for the hapless Wildcats.

Next up the Lions take on the Moutain View Bears at Lion stadium on Friday Night, game time is 7:30pm, Be There!
