JUNIOR VARSITY LIONS TAKE DOWN KNIGHTS

DEFENSE SHINES IN 2-0 WIN

The PRHS JV Lions started the season with a shut out game against Central Gwinnett Knights with a final score of 2-0. The Lion's first goal was scored at 27 minutes by Juan Palacio with assist from Edgar Rico. Rico's shot, off a direct kick awarded on a foul by Central Gwinnett, gave the Knight's keeper problems and Palacio jumped on the loose ball wasting no time to put in the goal.

The Lions took the lead and never looked back. At half time Lions were up by 1-0.

Sixteen minutes into the second half, the Lions scored their second goal from forward Ceasar Adrianzen(#14) with an assist from midfielder Phillip Petroni (#17). It was a brilliant pass from Petroni over the defense line and Adrianzen made a speedy dash to convert it into a goal.

The Lions defense and goal keepers did an excellent job shutting down the Knight offense. Central Gwinnett had a total of only 6 shots on goal in the entire game. Goalkeeper Josh Pence (#1) had 4 saves in the first half and Goalkeeper Nick Gagne (# 0) had 3 saves in the second half. Lions defense players Joey Bittner, Colin Bevier, Michael Flynn played tough to keep Central Gwinnett out of any scoring opportunity.

The Varsity Lions head to Harrison on Tuesday, February 14th in the first road game of the season. The trip to Harrison will take about one hour, so plan accordingly - you won't want to miss a minute of that one! You can find directions from PRHS here.
