The Varsity Girls had little trouble with the South Gwinnett Comets on Friday night, winning the game 5-2.

Despite missing a couple of key starters due to injury and illness, the team turned in a stellar performance.  Alanna Dineen and Pheobe Palmer each scored a pair of goals, while Emily Edmond scored a single talley for the Lions.

The Lions had an outstanding 20 shots on goal.  After the game, Coach Holleman commented on the performance. "Tonight the girls were solid.  When the offense is clicking, we can hang with anybody.  The South Gwinnett keeper kept this game closer than it might have been, she played well.  We are looking forward to having everyone healthy as we start preparing for Region play."

Defensively the Lions played well.  On the night, only three shots were taken by the Comets.  "While we did not give them many chances, they made the most of them," said Coach Holleman.  "It just goes to show you that any shot that is taken can find the net.  Some nights are just like that."

The Lady Lions travel to Brookwood next Thursday for a non-region match against the Centennial Knights.  Kickoff will be at 5:30pm.  Be There!
