VARSITY GIRLS DOMINATE CENTENNIAL BUT LOSE HEARTBREAKER IN FINAL MINUTE

The Varsity Girls played perhaps their best game of the season so far but lost a heartbreaker to Centennial High School in the final 40 seconds of regulation at the Brookwood Invitational Thursday night.

After controlling most of the match, and creating multiple opportunities, the Lady Lions were ultimately unable to convert on any of their chances, and lost the contest 1-0, despite outshooting the Knights 11-4 on the evening.

“You have to give credit to the Centennial Keeper and Defense,” said Coach Bill Holleman, “They made some strong plays tonight.  But I know our team is disappointed because we played good enough to win to – and our girls know that.  We have to turn right around and play Brookwood on Saturday at 4:00pm, so we must quickly rally ourselves to be ready.”

Katie Lippitt and Emily Edmond had outstanding games for the Lions.  “Unfortunately, Katie was injured and had to leave the game, we need to get her back out there as soon as we can.  She and Emily played with a lot of heart and a lot of passion tonight,” commented Coach Holleman. The Lions will be back in action on Saturday afternoon at 4:00pm when they take on the Brookwood Broncos at Brookwood stadium.
