JV GIRLS START SEASON WITH BIG BANG

The Peachtree Ridge Junior Varsity girls shut out the Central Gwinnett Knights at Lion Stadium on Monday.  The final score was 6-0, with the Lion's racking up 10 shots on goal in the first half and another 13 shots in the second half.  It was in the last two minutes of the first half when the ball finally found the back of the net.  The first goal was scored by Becca Owens with an assist from Kayla Thomas.

In the second half, the flood gates opened with the Lions scoring 5 goals. Owens scored the second goal for the Lions and Briana Bagnasco scored the Lion’s third goal approximately 10 minutes into the second half.  The Lions were roaring by now and never looked back.  They dominated the second half of the game with great defense and mid-field play.  The girls controlled possession of the ball which led to the 4th goal scored by the team and the 3rd goal for Owens making it the first “hat trick” of the season!!  The beautiful assist from Smirti Singh helped Becca clean-up behind the net.  With roughly three minutes left in the game, Thomas got her first goal of the season. The Lions continued to press on and with only 14 seconds left in the game, Taylor McMillan scored her 1st goal of the night.

The Lions defense did an excellent job by shutting down the Knight offense. Central Gwinnett had a total of 1 shot on our goal in the entire game. The JV girls are pumped and excited to play Lanier on Monday, February 20th---Let’s Go Lions!!!
